چکیده

Optimal conditions were determined for photophosphorylation and reduction in mature chloroplasts from Phaseolus vulgaris var. Red Kidney. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) at 1 mg/ml and various sulfhydryl reagents (0.1-0.5 mm) greatly enhanced cyclic and noncyclic phosphorylation, but had little effect on photoreduction. BSA and reduced glutathione also stimulated cyclic phosphorylation in spinach chloroplasts. BSA was needed in the reaction from the start to provide high rates of phosphorylation. BSA also protected against atebrin uncoupling but not against uncoupling by ammonium ions or inhibition by 3,-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea. Similarly, BSA and glutathione protected against atebrin inhibition of cyclic phosphorylation. Chloroplasts incubated at 0 degrees rapidly lost the ability to catalyze phosphorylation and BSA did not protect against inactivation.

Sequential Microwave-assisted Extraction for Isolation of Quercetin from Red Kidney Bean

Quercetin is a biological flavonoid, which can be found in red kidney bean at high concentration. In this study, a comparison was conducted between traditional and modern extraction methods. Sequential microwave-assisted extraction was used for isolation of quercetin from red kidney bean. The effect of several factors such as particle size of grinded kidney bean, extraction solvent, microwave p...

Inhibitory effect of peroxyacetyl nitrate on cyclic photophosphorylation by chloroplasts from black valentine bean leaves.

The inhibitory effect of peroxyacetyl nitrate on the cyclic photophosphorylation of chloroplasts isolated from Black Valentine variety bean leaves (Phaseolis vulgaris L.) has been studied. Peroxyacetyl nitrate caused inhibition to photophosphorylation, in either the dark or the light, by affecting the chloroplast. Evidence is presented which suggests that peroxyacetyl nitrate could oxidize sulf...

P-56: The Effect of Hydrostatic Pressure on Mouse Sperm Hyperactivation

Background: Mammalian sperm are not ready to fertilize oocyte immediately after ejaculation. Sperm achieve this ability after undergoing the processes of capacitation and hyperactivation. Hyperactivation refers to a change in the motility pattern of the sperm. Pharmacological reagents and physical-mechanical forces have been used in sperm from a variety of species. Hydrostatic pressure is a cru...

Genetic Diversity and Nutritional Components Evaluation of Bangladeshi Germplasms of Kidney Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Considering the crucial focus on plant developments as high yielding, protein, and disease-resistant varieties, in this study, the genetic diversity and nutritional traits of available kidney bean germplasms found in Bangladesh have been evaluated based on seventeen quantitative and six nutritional traits. Analysis of genotypic, phenotypic variance and covariance showed that higher environmenta...

Effect of water stress and plant density on canopy temperature, yield components and protein concentration of red bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Akhtar)

In order to study the effects of different irrigation regimes and plant density on yieldcomponent and protein concentration and crop water stress index (CWSI), under research fieldconditions a split plot arrangement was conducted in completely randomized block designduring two years. The first factor of variables was the effects of 4 irrigation levels 120% (I1),100% (I2), 80% (I3) and 60% (I4) ...
